We are incredibly proud of James Buckley, Pharmacist and Partner in Port Douglas, for his outstanding contributions to the Full Scope of Practice initiative.

Recently, James was invited to present at the Guild Annual Parliamentary Dinner at Parliament House in Canberra, where he discussed the critical role pharmacists play in diagnosing and treating ear conditions. This was a fantastic opportunity to advocate for expanded pharmacy services directly to policymakers.

James also featured in a Croakey Health Media Article, sharing his experiences and insights on the impact of scope of practice reforms, especially in regional and remote areas like Port Douglas. With limited access to healthcare services, these reforms are vital for communities facing significant challenges.

Under the State Government’s pilot program, James has been at the forefront, treating over 170 patients for various conditions, including ear infections, travel health consultations, and skin conditions. His efforts have not only reduced wait times but also provided immediate relief for many patients, proving the effectiveness of expanded pharmacy services.

James’s dedication to professional development and collaboration with local healthcare providers ensures that patients receive comprehensive and timely care. His work exemplifies how pharmacists can support doctors and enhance healthcare delivery, particularly in underserved areas.

Join us in celebrating James Buckley’s achievements and his ongoing commitment to improving healthcare access and quality in Port Douglas and beyond!
